Wire to Tube Repair
In this tutorial, we’ll demonstrate how to reattach wire mesh to a tube on a ZND panel. This repair restores edge strength and keeps the grid aligned for a clean, professional look.
Step 1 – Safety First:
Wear your PPE — welding jacket, gloves, and welding helmet — before starting.
Step 2 – Align the Mesh at the Tube:
Clean the tube and cut wire ends. Hold the mesh so each wire meets the tube on the proper grid line. Keep fingers clear of the weld zone.
Step 3 – Tack and Secure:
Place a tack at the midpoint to hold position, then add tacks at a few spaced points along the edge to lock alignment.
Step 4 – Complete the Welds:
Stitch-weld each wire where it meets the tube, using short, controlled welds to maintain straight lines and prevent heat warp.
Step 5 – Wrap-Up:
Dress any sharp points. Confirm the grid stays straight, the edge is fully attached, and there are no snags.
