Corner Plate to Tube Repair
This video covers repairing a corner plate that has come loose from the tube. Corner plates are critical to panel strength, and a proper repair restores both stability and performance.
Step 1 – Safety First:
Always put on the correct PPE — welding jacket, gloves, and helmet.
Step 2 – Position the Corner Plate:
Set the corner plate flush against the tube. Proper alignment here ensures a strong weld and a clean final look.
Step 3 – Tack the Weld:
Apply a tack weld at one edge of the corner plate to hold it in place. Then secure the opposite edge with a second tack.
Step 4 – Finish the Welds:
Weld fully along each side where the corner plate meets the tube. Move steadily to maintain even penetration and a consistent bead.
Step 5:
Inspect the finished welds to confirm the corner plate is secure. With this repair, your panel is once again stronger, safer, and site-ready.
